SMI Companies, Inc. of Franklin has been rewarded with the LWCC Safest 70 Award in recognition of their outstanding excellence and commitment to workplace safety through their many efforts in preventing injuries and controlling cost.
The LWCC Safest 70 Award acknowledges only 70 companies of their nearly 22,000 policy holders for their achievements in loss prevention as it relates to the workplace environment.
President and Owner Benny Splane commented, "Safety is no accident. It may sound like an old worn out phrase, but the reason it's still prevalent is because it's true. HS&E is a top line post in our organization. A lot of talented people both inside and outside of SMI Companies work hard every day to ensure our safety and we are grateful to them.
SMI Companies began in 1987 working from the back of welding trucks with a small handful of employees. Today the company operates four different locations and divisions throughout Louisiana. They provide specialty fabrication and service related activities for not only the oil and gas industry but with the marine, agriculture, petrochemical, pulp and paper and power industries.
